Boo.

I'm not sure about this Halloween stuff. It sorta concerns me...
Yes, those are Jack o' Lanterns on my feet
I don't need candy, just give me my lovey, my chewy, and my paci and I'll be fine.

Our Trip to Dubuque

Brady and I visited Emmaus last week. I had an alumni committee meeting, and also some on-campus work that needed to be done. The rest of the time was spent playing! Grandpa and Grandma even visited over the weekend. Brady was a trooper on the plane; for both flights he took a bottle and then was lulled to sleep by the airplane white noise. He loved riding around in his stroller on our layover.

In Dubuque, he spent his days with Amanda. Which is weird, because I used to babysit her and now she's babysitting my kid. I'm old. They did so well together; I missed him but I don't think he missed me that much! He also met a bunch of new friends. I think he very much enjoyed being admired and passed around. Spoiled boy!

Jason spent the week packing up our apartment and moving the furniture and most of our things. He got so much accomplished, probably more than he would have if I was there barking over his shoulder. Not that I ever do that. We still have some stuff left over at the apartment, but are pretty much moved in to our new home. I am in love with the new carpet. I am tempted to sleep on it.

...watch out, here come LOTS of pictures...

We stayed at the Johnson's in Amanda's room. Almost every night, this was the scene...
Our first night in Dubuque we had dinner with the Keiths. Garrett was a little jealous that his mommy spent so much time with Brady. That's fake sleep from Garrett but not from Brady...he was exhausted!
Lexi will be such a good mommy some day!
(I have no pictures of AJ. She wouldn't go near him) :)Hanging out with Daddy's friend DavidSnuggling and drooling on Grandpa. Anna Kate LOVED Brady, or "Bwady"
We had lunch at the Glock's on Sunday afternoon. Dave cooked us up a delicious meal. It was a great time and one of the events that I miss most since moving to Ohio! I missed Melsie and knew she would have been proud of me for eating my green beans and sweet potatoes.
Dave entertaining us.My husband would probably have been eating with this motley crew.
Later they formed a bandThis used to be the "kids table" but I guess the kids are all grown up now!
Drooly Brady with Kristy
With Amanda, a terrific babysitter
Enjoying a snuggle with Auntie Linda
Somebody got a new hat! Someone else (mommy) got new carpet, and there it is!
Brady's new favorite spot in Mommy's office
Hopefully I'll be able to post a few pics of the house later on this week...depends on how much we get accomplished!

Weekend Update

We are a bit discombobulated in the Hubbie house right now...
...trying to pack up a house that we still live in
...dealing with piles of disorganization
...discussing why we have so much stuff
...observing that the littlest member of the household takes up the most space
...trying not to eat all the homemade cookies that are supposed to be for church
...rejoicing that Brady now consistently sleeps through the night
...packing and preparing for a trip to Dubuque from Tuesday to Sunday (just Mommy and Brady this time!)
...attempting to keep up with everyday chores like dishes, laundry, and grocery shopping
...wondering when life is going to slow down and give us a break?

I try sooooo hard to get a smile out of the boy and this is what I get back...

...a blank stare...
...a shifty gaze...
...I'm bored with you, mommy...
...that's it!...gimme that camera!

We all have days when we just need our mommies...

Brady doesn't want mommy to put him down this afternoon. Thank goodness for the Baby Bjorn! But I can't say I mind a little extra snuggle time with my little guy. Sometimes it's nice just to hold him close, as someday all too soon he'll be squirming to get down.

Insignificant Hubbie Happenings

(Weekend Update)

Friday

  • Closed on our house - we are homeowners once again!
  • Celebrated at Chick-Fil-A
  • Ordered carpet from Lowe's
  • Due to surprising cost of carpet, ate grilled cheese for dinner instead of another celebratory dinner of Chinese! (good thing we made it to Chick-Fil-A)
  • Rented "House" on DVD

Saturday
  • Packed boxes
  • Cleaned and organized
  • Cooked a meal for a family from church who just welcomed a baby girl
  • Delivered our first load of "stuff" to the new house
  • Finished "House" Season 3

Sunday
  • Unintentionally overslept and missed the first service at church
  • Went to Target and bought oodles and oodles of cleaning supplies for new house
  • Packed boxes
  • Possibly got a bit on each other's nerves
  • Brought two loads of stuff to new house
  • Collapsed on couch with McDonald's at 8 PM
  • Settled in to watch the Dodgers/Phillies game
  • Made serious progress in the Battle for Brady's Bedtime (say that 3x fast)

This week
  • Pedia appointment for Brady...including shots... :(
  • Overnight visit from Kimmie and her mom
  • Packing more boxes
  • Clean the new house
  • Move more stuff

Brady showing off his six-pack abs
Someone has BLUE eyes!
Heading for the bath
AHHHH...
heeheehee that tickles!
His favorite position while watching Baby Einstein - one leg out, fist in mouth, eyes on TV.
Lovey, meet Chewy. Chewy, meet Lovey.
Brady has a new favorite bedtime snuggle, we call it "Chewy" but he refuses to give up "Lovey"...so he clutches one in each arm.
Let's go bye bye!

Little Diddies (Weekend Update)

  • Brady is smiling, cooing, and talking all the time. To us and anyone around us, including the lady in the checkout line at Target.
  • We can't believe how much he is growing. His little dainty newborn fingers are now chubby little fists. He has more than one chin and fat rolls are multiplying. Hmmm...does he get those rolls from mommy or daddy? (That was a hypothetical question. Please don't give us an answer)
  • Stubborn Brady does not like to go down at night. What he does not realize is that his parents invented stubbornness. Slowly but surely we are winning the battle. When he finally goes down, he sleeps about 7 hours.
  • I postponed Brady's two month appointment because I'm just not ready for him to get his first shots yet. Okay, that's not the only reason. We've refused the Hep B shot so he hasn't had any vaccines as of yet. I've been reading The Vaccine Book by Dr. Robert Sears and we have decided to follow the delayed vaccination schedule that Dr. Sears recommends. We are not getting the rotavirus, chicken pox, or the hep B vaccinations, but the rest he will get in time. Who knew that vaccinating was such a hot topic for parents today? I am glad we did our own research and confident in our decision. Our pediatrician is on board with our decision as well, which is a relief. She actually recommended the book to us. Brady's first round will come later on this month. After reading my friend Jen's post about her son's shots, I'm not sure I'll ever be ready!
  • We went to a Parade of Homes on Saturday. We saw how the other half lives. I found a perfect paint color for our kitchen and bathroom. I am so glad these people paid out the nose for a fancy interior designer so I could just swoop in and steal her ideas.
  • We close on the house this coming Friday. Still haven't packed a thing.
  • The house is being measured for carpet tomorrow, then we have to finalize our color decision and get the carpet ordered so it can be installed before we move. Hmmm...shall we go with dark beige, light beige, beige with dark and light beige flecks, or just plain beige?
  • A long, huge, and heavy wooden bench tipped over and landed on my foot this weekend. I know, kind of random. I have a cool bruise.
  • The stupid Cubs lost.
And now on to the pictures...

Snuggling in with mommy after a feeding.
Watching football with dad.
Showing off his wing span. He seriously slept like this for quite awhile!
None of these are as cute as the diaper and socks combination, so keep scrolling down for some serious cuteness!
