Weekend Update #8

Our big event this weekend was Baby Hubby's very first doctor's appointment. It feels like it is "official" now. Our next appointment is Feb 1 and that should be exciting as we may be able to hear a strong heartbeat and we'll be right at thirteen weeks along. I added a little glimpse of what our baby looks like right now - and he still looks a bit like an alien with that giant bald head - but then again, my husband has a giant bald head and it's adorable. I've really enjoyed reading about what size our baby is and what is developing each week. Brings to mind Psalm 139, "For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (v 13-14).

We are having other thoughts regarding the arrival of Baby Hubby - like, where is he going to sleep? I can't even find a spot to store my new crock pot. Where is my new baby going to go? I suppose we have seven months to figure it out.

The rest of the weekend was spent loafing and catching up on things. (Loafing by me, catching up by Jason). My husband is a saint. While I sit with my feet up under a blanket next to the space heater (my new best friend is a space heater), Jason does the laundry and cleans the house. How did I get so lucky? Sometimes I manage to load the dishwasher - but for most part, I am being waited on.

We did attend a different church today - it was a Bible church not too far from where we live. However, we weren't real impressed. We both agree that we'll end up in a church that is much smaller than the ones we've been visiting. We've agreed that we should stop visiting churches that have their own parking attendants. That's a good indication that we won't end up there!

Tomorrow I am leaving for Dubuque for a few days for some meetings - meetings for work and meetings with friends! I am very excited to see everyone! The girls and I are getting together on Monday night - I will bring my camera but I'll be lucky to remember to take pictures! I hope I can stand to work an eight hour day again - it's been awhile - and you all know that I've been spoiled. I'm looking forward to going back to ACC for the Wednesday night service, visiting my old hair stylist, and of course being back on campus at Emmaus. Jason will be a bachelor for four days. I'll be driving myself to and from the airport, which is a bit nerve-wracking for me, but I just have to get through it this once and then I'll be okay. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go pack. I sure hope my husband has finished the laundry!

Yeah for husbands doing laundry and cleaning...I love it! I must say that Ben does a better job of cleaning than I do anyways.
Can't wait to see you tomorrow.

Angie,
I can store your crock pot or give the baby a room. Of course, you will have to come along as I don't do babies!!!!

That is the benifit of marrying a Smart2 man. They had been bachelors so long they had the skills needed to survive before they get married.

Have fun in the big D!!

I've been working on my Emmaus album all weekend and that's been fun ... someday I hope we'll get together so I can show you in person. :)

I'll miss chatting with you from work -- so hurry back, 'kay?!
Take care of yourself, Mama. Talk soon.

You deserve to be treated like a queen! We had a rat-race weekend and it's been bothering me that I still have a 9' naked artificial tree in my living room. Just can't bring myself to tear it down. When we got back from church yesterday, I was SO tired and didn't want to deal with it. Don told me NOT to worry about doing things I didn't feel like doing--he'd help with the tree(s)tonight. This is the first time he's remotely shown interest in helping me tear down the Christmas mania that I create around my house. We'll see what tonight brings....

Take care of yourself and safe travels!!! Love ya!

you're so cute. I love your updates. I'm glad you get to come back and spend time with your good friends. Have FUN. :)

If you find yourself getting restless during your 8 hour work day I have a marshmallow gun that you're free to use on your co-workers if you'd like. :) It's great fun.

Maybe I'll see you when you're here!

Okay, the countdown until I pick you up at the Dubuque airport is one hour and twenty minutes (pending everything being on time) and yet in my head I'm whining that it's too long! Have patience, have patience, don't be in such a hurry (remember that song from your childhood).
See you soon! Can't wait.
p.s. kuddos to Jason! Ask him if he'll teach a class :)He can name it Hubbard's "How to Handle Housework"!!! :)

Well Angie, you should be in Dubuque this evening! I'm hoping you have a wonderful time catching up with friends and getting some work done too! :)

I'm back at work again so I'm bummed we can't do another mid-week lunch - not until April at least. Perhaps a weekend visit with husbands? Are you feeling better from the nausea?

Just thinking of you and wishing you happy times in Dubuque this week!

My blog probably sucks less now. Next time you're on Facebook look for Don. He has one of them things now.

Do you have an empty dresser drawer? After all, that's where our parents put us back in the day... the baby will be nice and cozy :o)

A crib in the bedroom works great the first year. After that put the little on in another room.

Hope things keep going well for you.
