Lockdown

I'm considering making this blog private - for invited readers only.

We "know some people" that we'd rather forget and I'm not too keen on these people knowing all our personal business. I don't want to go into too many details...but it's definitely on my mind.

I love having you all check the blog - so what would you think if we made the switch? Would you stick with us?

The problem is that I know a lot of people read this and don't leave comments - which is perfectly fine with me. But I would want those people to be able to continue reading and I'm not sure I know who they all are! I also want people who legitimately know me (and are NOT crazy!) to be able to find me and get in touch. I have a meter that tracks my visitors but I rarely check it - it's very generic and just gives me location and internet provider.

I may get over this feeling and change my mind - but there are some crazy people out there and I don't want them to know when our child is born, what our child's name is, where we live, our daily routine, etc.

This could be the pregnancy hormones making me hover over my nest with a watchful eye!

Thoughts? Those of you with blogs - do you worry about this? Do you ever worry about the complete strangers that might stumble upon your blog?

Honestly, I've thought about it. I guess I need to think it about it more. But, hey if you switch, invite me.

Please invite me, too! I so enjoy reading!

And yes, this is something all thoughtful bloggers must settle in their own minds. Everyone has a different comfort level.

Hi Angie! I read your blog and just wanted to say congrats on your baby! I feel that way about our blog, too sometimes. I guess there are crazies out there and I think that's just the chance you take when you put yourself out there. I'm just always aware of what I share could be read by people I know and am not comfortable with and also complete strangers. I guess it just depends on your comfort level. I hope you are doing well and enjoying Ohio!

I would totally stick with you ... if you'd still want me? :) I would like to do the same thing with my blog but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Could you email me the instructions?

You can never be too careful with all the crazy people in this world!

I'd stick with you! Even though I don't always comment... I check your blog almost every day! :)

It was good chatting with you while you were here. I bet you're glad to be back home with your hubby.

You're talking about me, aren't you? If I promise to take my meds will you let me read your blog?

I agree that you should do whatever you are comfortable with. I've seen many people use code names, which maybe you'd want to do just for the baby? Cubby Bear?

We have the same generic tracker. What's helpful about it, at least from what I can conclude is that it shows where the person came from. So if someone, for example, googled something that led to you, you could see that. Otherwise it shows where you've linked from, be it another blog or whatever. Does that make sense?

Anyway, please invite me too. :)

Hey Ange -good thoughts. I've thought about it myself too -sometimes I get the most random comments and have no idea who the people are. Please invite me if you continue -I love your blog -you are so good at updating! And so funny too :0)

Love ya!

We had this discussion when you and I had coffee. It is scary, especially when you are adding a little one into the blog. I support your "lockdown"! Just invite me, too, please! :)

Angie,
I don't know anything about blogs, except yours is GREAT. So much fun reading what you write. So don't leave me out, if you do a new one. I know Jason missed you but we try to take care of him at the Haven.:)

I'm crazy. But it's harmless crazy. No worries from this branch of the tree.

Angie, I know lots of people who think like you do. I use feedburner to track everything that happens on my site. While it does not tell you exactly who visits, it does give you the domain from which they visited. You can find out if someone clicked through from someone else's site to yours and all kinds of cool stuff.

I like reading your blog. You are really funny, especially since you are with child.

Hi Angie & Jason, Now that I'm working full-time again, I don't have quite the time I did before (gotta get in facebook & ebcalumni.net websites you know) to check other things on the Internet and alas, I've neglected reading your blog for several weeks now! About the privacy thing - I don't know what you're talking about so I can't help you! I have our family blog private to only people who have the address (since ours is so new) so no one can do a search on the Internet for us and find it. Would you have to change your blogspot name to keep it private? Anyway, I will probably be commenting on some of your other past blogs because I am behind the times on reading them!! Ang - I want to get together with you again (sigh). Starbucks & a movie, Jason can watch football with Alan. Too bad we're one hour away from each other (not as bad as 12 though, right)...
