Honeymoon, Part 2 - The Haunted Hotel and other sites!

Wednesday morning, we set off "early" (9:00 AM) on a hike. It was kind of funny, you could tell we were amateurs at hiking because we actually stopped at Starbucks on our way to the trail and headed up the mountain with our coffee cups in hand. I'm sure we looked like major tourists to the real hikers that passed us! We didn't make it very far. Not because of the coffee, but because someone had a hard time with the thin air. Okay, it was me. I felt like a major wimp, but my husband was patient with me!

The Stanley Hotel and Rocky Mountain National Park
Thursday morning we headed to Estes Park to spend a night at the famed Stanley Hotel. Most of you know that I was a little freaked out at the prospect of staying in a "haunted" hotel. To get myself good and scared, we took a ghost tour, which Jason labeled as "hogwash"...but it was fun! The hotel is very beautiful and yet creepy at the same time!

You may recognize this from the movie Dumb and Dumber...this is where Jim Carrey pulled up his Lamborghini and started passing out $100 bills! Actually, all of the outdoor hotel scenes were filmed here at the Stanley.

According to our guide, a little girl ghost "Katie" lives here in this tunnel!

The famous Stephen King room - where he stayed and got his inspiration for "The Shining"...Mrs. Wilson is the ghost that lives here. Apparently she likes to unpack for you and put your things away. If I could just get her to repack my things, I would be fine with a ghost like that!

The pool is not haunted. But it is gorgeous!

Our room at the Stanley. Nothing special, and definitely overpriced - I'll just leave it at that! We still had a great time here, and it was worth the experience.
