We started off from Dubuque on Sunday afternoon, headed to Vail, CO in the good ol' Malibu. We stopped in Lincoln, NE on Sunday night at the "Cornhusker Marriott"...we were a bit nervous about this one, but it turned out to be a wonderful hotel. We were even upgraded to suite due to our "honeymoon status" AND the desk clerk lowered our rate! Score!

The next day we loaded up and headed to Vail.

"I thought the Rocky Mountains would be a little rockier..." (Harry,
Dumb and Dumber)

That's better...

We actually stayed in Beaver Creek, about 10 miles from Vail. This was a great resort, full of restaurants, shopping, and outdoor activities, even ice skating! Here's a shot of downtown Beaver Creek, including a picture of The Dusty Boot, where we enjoyed a burger our first night in Colorado.

Our beautiful hotel

Our room (sorry if these photos are boring, I just thought our room was awesome!)

Have you ever seen a more beautiful site?

Jason in Vail - we went shopping on the one day it rained

Tuesday night, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at The Wildflower in Vail thanks to our friends Ken and Jan Murray! I had filet mignon and Jason had salmon. Delicious!

Chocolate Creme Brulee!! It was amazing! (Cass - these photos are for you! Can you recreate this for me? :)) Left to right - semi sweet, bittersweet, dark chocolate

Jason's White Chocolate Bavarian...mmmmm!

Isn't this town just too cute?

We actually went back to The Wildflower the next night because we didn't use up all of our gift card - I got creme brulee again! (and cappuccino, of course)

I have more pics - I'll keep them coming as long as you are not sick of me!!

Great pics and it looks as though you had sooo much fun together! (I know what you mean about taking photos of the rooms....that's such a treat in and of themselves!)
And the desserts......hum-ma-na, hum-ma-na...! Wow...I'm all over those. Creme brulee is truely one of my favorites--if it's done WELL--and that triple threat idea is fantastic. Lucky you. But happy for me that you took pictures....and thought of me too!
Can't wait to see and hear about Honeymoon, Part 2!!
(Let's totally do a vacation away sometime...I think we'd be great travel partners...!)
Angie:
Thank you SO much for posting these pictures. Our hearts were with you on the 9th and you and the wedding party looked so beautiful. Your dress was PERFECT! Can you believe it's been 6 years since you donned a lavendar dress for our wedding? Where does time go?
I so regret not being able to attend and I can't wait to sit down over coffee sometime and catch up! Miss you & Love you, Jen
Great pictures! You do look beautiful and so happy! And your honeymoon looks like it was a great time. Great hotel rooms...doesn't that just make the whole trip better? :) And Brian says he wonders why you would question a hotel called the Cornhusker! :)
Yeah, that Jon Denver's full of... something.
Figures you couldn't go without quoting that amazing movie.
