Now tomorrow I am facing a major surgery, and even though we have received favorable test results, we still don’t know what the future holds.
Our pastor reminded us yesterday that I am not any closer to death today than I was one year ago, or five years ago. Everyday on this earth is by the grace of God.
Despite this scary diagnosis, I have already shared that I’ve never felt closer to the Lord. I want to share with you how you can feel the same peace and hope that I feel, no matter what trials you may face in your life.
Don't get me wrong...I get scared and I grieve for the unknown. I grieve for my little boy, because I want to be there while he grows up. I grieve for my husband, because I want to grow old with him. Thousands of “what ifs” have crossed my mind. What if the cancer has spread further than the tests indicated? What if the cancer comes back?
Even though I grieve, I grieve with HOPE.
HOPE that can only come from my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Do you have this HOPE?
Jesus Christ paid the penalty for your sin when He died on the cross. He offers you eternal life.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Salvation is free. And it’s simple.
“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9, ESV
That’s it. That’s all you need to do. If you have questions, ask me. My email address is ahubbard @ emmaus . edu (take out the spaces). I would love to talk to you.
I know that most people who read this blog already have this same hope. But I still feel the need to share.
This is probably the most important blog I have ever written. I don’t normally campaign for comments, but if you are reading this, and you too believe and have the same hope that I have, please leave a comment…with a simple statement such as “I believe” or “I have HOPE.”

Amen, my dear sister.
I am confident that the DeArment family's move in to living churches from dead orthodoxy was triggered by your decision to go to a different church. We have you to thank (as well as God) for having life and life abundantly.
I believe in this hope, too! And by 'hope' we mean confidence, not a mere wishing. We KNOW that because God has saved us, we will live with him in heaven someday.
Amen! What would we do without Him?
I love your pastor's statement. Those of us who know the Lord as our Savior also know we are immortal till our time of service is complete.

Well, I have to say Angie, that I too believe in my Savior, Jesus Christ. I is the sovereign Lord of all. He is with me when I have a hard time with homework, and when I am sick. He is God. Keep enduring Angie. I, along with the ACC family here in Dubuque, IA will continue to be praying for you. God bless. As my grandma would say Keep on keeping on! Copyright Melsie Glock.

My hope endures!
HOPE! In the past 6 months it has meant more to me and my husband than ever before. When we found out our daughter had gone to be with Jesus before ever taking her first breath, we leaned heavily on Romans 5:1-5 but especially verse 5
"And this HOPE will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love."
Praise God that HE IS our hope, when nothing else can be and so we chose Hope for our daughter's middle name as a testimony of how God gave us that hope in our darkest hour.
Ang, love you dearly and praise God for your testimony. Praying for you.

You have been such a blessing to me these past few weeks! This song is running through my head right now!
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
Amen! I believe in HOPE! Love your post and hope it reaches those who may not know that love from HIM!
Trusting in the HOPE of Christ during difficult times can be such a precious and sweet time -- though mingled with bitterness. I'm praying for you and your surgery! :)

Natalie Grants song says it so well "Our hope endures the worst of conditions..."
Just got a fb message from Stephanie requesting prayer and it had your blog address attached. Being a blog addict myself I'm glad she did. :) So nice to meet you and I wish it were in better circumstances. Keep hoping in the Lord and he will work this for His glory. I can't imagine every emotion that you must be going through. Prayers and hugs coming your way.
We are praying... "Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow... Great is His Faithfulness!" Regarding HOPE, Joni always says: "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." Keep the faith! Hang onto Jesus! And keep praising Him! We love all of you! Here's my favorite phrase from Rom 12:12--"joyful in HOPE, faithful in prayer, patient in affliction..." Much love and many prayers--Sue Stratman (for the Stratman family)
Hope springs eternal!
Our ladies' Bible study is praying for you in Australia. They have a rep for answered prayer.:) And we're always a day ahead of you, so have already covered your surgery day in prayer.

Betty said...I, too, have that same hope by the grace of God. I know that God's grace will be sufficient for you. I would pray that God would heal you, and give you many more years with your precious family. But someday I will meet you in heaven, and we will praise the Lord together. May God bless you, and use you to bring many people to Himself through your testimony.
Angie- I'm so sorry you are going thru this difficult time- you and your family. Steph talks about you and loves you very much and passed your news on to us- we will be praying for you.
