We partied it up Hubbie style with lots of food and more food for Brady's first birthday. Our party people included a few friends from the mission and also my mom and dad all the way from Iowa...all adults except for Brady and his little friend Julia! I guess that's why they say the 1st birthday party is really for the parents!
I spent most of the day reminiscing about what had happened one year ago on August 1st...often sharing things with my family, much to their dismay. "Hmm...it's about noon, so at this time last year my epidural was wearing off and I was puking and passing out..." and so on...hahaha!
Brady would have slept right through the party if we had let him, but we woke him up about 30 minutes into it...it took him awhile to perk up! (You can see a glimpse of my beautiful partially remodeled kitchen behind me...but that's a blog for another day!)
Still not awake
Well, of course, we had a baseball theme! The guys played cornholeThe women enjoyed chatting!Brady's Baseball Cake
He promptly reached out and grabbed the baseball players right off the cake...
Then he looked for more ways to destroy it...
Since both hands were full, he then decided to attack with his footSinging "Happy Birthday" followed by the foot plant into the cake.
Yummy...foot cake tastes so GOOD!Next came the presents
Ken and Jan sent Brady his first set of matchbox cars all the way from Chicago! After a few laps around the party, mingling with his guests......we soon we had a tuckered out baby!
We had a great celebration and were thankful to be surrounded by our dear friends who love our son! I can't believe he's one already!
What a sweet boy! Matchbox cars, YEAH! He will get hours of enjoyment out of those. I remember when Matthew turned one, he was so tuckered out, he almost didn't make it thru cake time. =)
I'm absolutely shocked that you had a baseball themed party ... I mean, how out of left field is that?!?! The First Birthday ... so exciting and memorable ... for Mom and Dad at least. Yes, the memories for you only a year ago ... what a gift you received that day. Little B, you are one loved boy!

SOOOOO CUTE!!!! I love that cool cake, I love your deck {wow!} and I can't wait to see your kitchen! Happy First Brady!
I remember last year August 1st being in Mom and Dad's living room with Erin, hearing that you weren't doing well and being scared I'd lose my sister.
I'm glad I didn't! Love that little boy!
