Our weekend highlight was hearing the baby's heartbeat again. We had an appointment on Friday afternoon and the little heart was pittering away in the 160s. If you are keeping score, that means we've had two heart rates in the "girl range" according to the old wives tale. We have our ultrasound scheduled for March 24, and will be sure to update you all with the sex of the baby. We can't WAIT to find out. Let's hope our baby is an exhibitionist and not of the shy, modest sort. And let's hope that changes before he or she leaves the womb! By some sort of miracle, I have not gained any weight in this pregnancy. This is odd because I seem to put on weight like it's the cool thing to do. I suppose I can expect it all to come during the second half of the pregnancy. Especially since I have not denied myself anything since the nausea has stopped!
I find it a relief to hear a strong heartbeat as I occasionally get a little anxious before our appointments. We are thankful for short and sweet appointments as it means that things are progressing normally. Our midwife is very friendly and we both like her. Although I do find it funny that when I ask the midwife a question, her answer matches perfectly with my sister-in-law, Shannon. Shannon is chock full of knowledge about pregnancy. And since she's currently on maternity leave, I can bug her until April with my silly questions!
Our second highlight of the weekend was finding a dollar theater about 15 minutes from our house. SCORE! We saw Enchanted on Friday night, and before you make fun of Jason for venturing to such a girly movie, we had heard that it wasn't that bad for guys. We both enjoyed it despite the overflowing theater and the crying babies. Hey, if it only cost $1 to see the movie, you can't expect much! We will definitely be visiting that place often.
Saturday we did a bare minimum of housework, rented a few movies from Blockbuster, and relaxed. Jason completed a project for me that makes me very happy; he installed two extra shelves in the armoire that holds my clothes. The armoire used to hold our TV so it was full of wasted space. He just used some simple plywood that we had cut at Lowe's and I covered it with shelf liner. Here's a before and after photo:
J: Ma'am, could you help us with these thermometers? Is one better than the other or are all the different brands the same?
E: Well, a rectal thermometer--
J: (interrupts) NO.
E: But a rectal thermometer is the most accurate for finding baby's--
J: (interrupts) Not doing that. (shaking head)
E: (eyes wide)...O-KAY...well, ear is the next best followed by mouth and underarm...blah blah...
HA HA HA HA!!! Couldn't you just see Jason having this conversation?
Jason informed me that under no circumstances would he be sticking a thermometer anywhere below the neck. So we picked out one for baby's ear and left.
Have a great week!
Love,
Angie, Jason, and Baby Onion

a heartbeat, a dollar movie, more movies at home and a project completed...sounds like a recipe for a great weekend.
as far as the baby tips, David and I went on the link you provided and our favorite, pee your pants, laugh to the point of pain one was the shopping cart with the babies legs sticking out underneath all of the groceries. :)
I knew my Jason was a good guy. I completely agree about the 'nothing below the neck' policy.
I remember once being at the doctor's office and, with my high gag reflex, they told me if I didn't have it in the mouth it would have to be 'in my bottom or under my arm.' I quickly got used to oral thermometers.
you are so fUUUNNY!!!! I think the baby is eating all of the extra food.
Angie -great to hear all of your news. I'm so happy to hear that things are going well with the midwife and that the heartbeat is strong! I can't wait to see that bump picture -way to go with not gaining any weight yet!!!!!! I know -I'll update our blog soon...
