Weekend Update #14

In an effort to spice up our weekend updates (because this one is really lame), we've decided to start a new weekly feature.

"Baby Item of the Week"

(insert oohs and ahhs)

Jason and I are both a little freaked out about how much this coming baby is going to cost us. Babies need a lot of stuff. And after organizing my dresser space last week, we realized that we are going to have to actually buy all that stuff! So, in an effort to spread out the cost a bit, we are going to add in a few baby items to our weekly budget and work on our stockpile. We've got six months. Of course we will leave plenty of room for doting grandparents and uncles (hint, hint, Uncle Jeff-Jeff) to purchase their own selection of gifts. We wouldn't want to deny them the pleasure of spoiling Baby Hubby.

Every week we will showcase our purchases. Some purchases will be basic and some will be fun. We will stick to gender-neutral items until we find out the sex of the baby.

All that to say...our baby item of the week is...drum roll please...PLAIN WHITE ONESIES! That's right, ladies and gentlemen. It's a perfect lame purchase that it matches this lame weekend update. But can you really go wrong by buying as many of these as possible? Isn't our newborn going to spit up on about 20 of these per day?
On with the lame weekend update...

We did manage to go out on Friday night, and even got dressed up. I took a picture so you all would believe us. Some friends of ours from the mission bought us tickets to a dinner theatre hosted by a church in the area. It was fun to get out.Jason had to work on both Saturday and Sunday, so I did mountains of laundry, cleaned the house, and clocked in for some work myself. I also went to church by myself which was fine - we had a Mexican potluck and I had been craving some chips and salsa....mmmmmm....

Saturday afternoon, the Goodyear blimp flew by and got awful close to our apartment. That provided me with some entertainment for about 5 minutes. I had to find the camera fast because that thing can move.
Seriously, dude...back up
Here is my Valentine's Day present from Jason. Some women get flowers, but I get an autographed baseball. You can have your flowers! This is an authentic autograph of a legendary Cubs first baseman. I'm not going to tell you who it is; can you guess?
No fair asking my Dad.
That about wraps it up. Perhaps next week we can purposely go out and do something fun for the sake of our blog. I think you all have been patient and deserve a more entertaining update.

Oh...I can add that our baby is the size of a navel orange now. I think we all can agree that a navel orange beats a lemon and a peach in size, so I guess that debate can rest for now!

XOXO
Angie, Jason, and Baby Navel Orange

Words of advice from a poor parent. Hit the garage sales in the spring. You can find a lot of baby stuff that has been barely used.

Babies grow so fast that they outgrow things after wearing them 2 or 3 times. It slows down after they hit 2, but they grow really fast until them.

Amanda buys Sean and Mackenzie's cloths for almost a whole year at garage sales. This makes kids a little more afforadable.

Since I have had so MUCH EXPERIENCE
HA HA HA I agree with erik about garage sales. My niece in law bought most of her daughters clothes at garage sales.

Then of course if you can't find any garage sales---------there is always a clothing room at

THE HAVEN OF REST!!!!!!!!!!!

I know a few people that work there and we could possibly arrange something.

Nothing like a crisp new white onesie, so soft and clean.
After I talked to you, I totally hit the chips and salsa myself. Yum! Comfort food!

We actually don't have many baby things believe it or not ourselves. When Bella was born we had a pack and play and some clothes and that was it! When we were in Cambridge some people lent me a bunch of stuff and we bought a stroller. Then of course we had to leave all that stuff there. We are borrowing a high chair here too. So whenever the next baby comes, I am planning to look on Craigslist- have you done that?
But it's so fun to see all the little clothes piling up! When will you find out girl or boy?

I agree with what everyone said about garage sales! You can find some really good stuff if you look!

Also, remember that people will buy you stuff! Who doesn't like going shopping for baby cloths!

I also found that for the first couple of months sleeper type things work best. They are easiest to change and I think more comfy than cute little outfits! We usually saved the cute stuff for Sundays!

Babies grow so fast, so I would suggest not buying a gob of really small stuff. They grow like weeds that first little bit!!!!!

Can't wait to find out what you are having....you are telling????

Yes, let the gathering of the 'sweet, small stuff' begin!

Great pic of you two all gussied up!

And no, I have no idea who signed that baseball. Not even the foggiest. What team did you say this was??

I am with everyone on the garage sales. Celia and Annelise are clothed for the most part in "garage sale" bargains. Find the "doctor's neighborhoods" and make sure you are there when they first open up! We have a few "doctor's neighborhoods" here! :) Borrowing works wonders, too. I borrowed a swing when Celia was born that she loved to sit in. I then bought one before Annelise was born and she hated it! Babies have a mind of their own! Loved your update! And I am so glad baby Navel Orange is doing well!

Garage Sales are a great idea! I will have to enlist the help of Jason since I don't know my way around Akron still.

Shayna - I have also looked on Craig's List, in particular I've been looking for a crib. Akron is a big area so there are lots of postings. I'm sure it's the same for St. Louis!

YES we are finding out the sex of the baby and we will share it with anyone who will listen! We are keeping our names a secret...as long as I can keep my big mouth shut!

Baby stuff is so fun...remember, the gifts will come in too:)

About the autographed baseball...is it Ernie Banks? I thought of that all by myself and then had to check and make sure he played 1st base. If I am right, my mom will sure be proud!!!
