Weekend Update #6

Snow, snow, and more snow! It started yesterday and is still coming down. We've been inside since we got back from church. I don't mind it - if it is going to be cold, it might as well look pretty outside!

Friday night we went to a Christmas program at The Chapel. It was beautiful - complete with Irish Dancers, a huge choir and orchestra, and all the talent from The Chapel's music department. Remember the guy who sounded like Josh Groban? He was there, along with the Dave Matthews Tribute Band (not really - but again, they sounded just like DMB!). The Irish Dancers were cool. They also had a few segments of interpretive dance - not our favorite part :) But overall, it was a really neat concert and totally worth the $5 per ticket.

Is it just me or does the world smell way worse when you are pregnant? I've always been the owner of a bionic nose - but this is crazy. During the concert, I could smell my neighbor clearly who obviously had enough to drink during dinner (for the record, I'm NOT talking about Jason, LOL). This man smelled like an alcoholic. Ugh. Don't get me started on smokers! PU! I'm sure anyone who has been pregnant can relate!

Saturday we went to the grocery store to get a few things before the storm hit - apparently we had the same idea as the rest of Akron. I wish I had my camera to show you how many people were in that store. Every checkout line was packed with a minimum of ten carts in each line. We made it through after 30 minutes of waiting. A teenager behind me said "Dad, we are going to have to eat all this food before we get up there!"...hahaha!

We caught an afternoon matinee of "Alvin and the Chipmunks" just for fun. It was snowing and the theater is only about a mile from our apartment. We both really enjoyed it. If you grew up listening to the Chipmunks records and watching them on TV like I did, you'll like it. It's cute and very clean. It's pretty funny, too and considering it's a kids movie, we expected it to be cheesy but it wasn't.

Saturday night we watched DVD's of Law and Order: SVU that we got from the library. Bored, bored, bored!

For the record, Baby H does not like chili, quiche, tortilla chips, cheese or pizza. Baby H likes toaster waffles, toast, cereal, orange juice, ginger ale, and peppermint ice cream (thank you, Lord). That's what I've learned this week. I've spent quite a bit of time this week just laying still trying not to anger my stomach!

Also, time to 'fess up if you own a Christmas sweater. They are everywhere! I am surrounded by Christmas sweaters! They are taking over Ohio! Help! Anyone else notice the overabundance of Christmas sweaters in their area? (Mom, I know you own one, but I'll give you a pass since you are an elementary teacher, haha!)

Nine more days until Christmas! Woohoo! We are getting on a plane first thing on Christmas morning and should arrive in Des Moines by 9 AM. I can't wait to go home. We are also looking forward to Matt and Steph's visit this Thursday night. Yeah! Bring on the festivities.

Look for your limited edition Hubbard Christmas portrait to arrive in the mail this week!

How far along are you Angie? Two weeks ago Rece threw up (we found out he can't drink cows milk the hard way!) all over my couch and carpet! For the last 2 weeks I have tried everything to get the vomit smell out of my living room! Between the vomit smell and the cleaning product smell I thought I was going to have to move out of the house! My nose is way too sensitive right now!

I have found that our baby doesn't really like sweet stuff! This has been a really good thing! Normally I could live on chocolate! Hope you start feeling better! I am finally there and SO thankful!!!

We are in Canada now visiting Ben's parents and got hit with snow. We didn't even make it to church today (it was really bad!)

Sorry to hear about the smells. Keep eating small snacks, that helped me with keeping my stomach under control. With both pregnancies I lived off of Cheerios the first few months.
I miss you...

Sorry to hear that the smells are getting to you! When I was pregnant with Celia, Brian's parents came to visit (we lived in North Carolina) and Brian decided that they had to make seafood, because we lived so close to the ocean! I don't like seafood as a non-pregnant person, so dinner that night was torture for me. I couldn't even enter the dining room. I ate at the counter in the kitchen! I hope you can survive on peppermint ice cream! :)
For the record, I am an elementary teacher and do not own a Christmas sweater...

Angie, can't help with the smells, but a teacher at school would drink green tea (she used various flavors) and eat crackers to settle her stomach. Every afternoon you could find her in the teacher's lounge having tea and crackers, while the reading teacher watched her class.

Yes, the snow is great!

Browns Fans Don't Care About No Snow! The best is when they show the Dog Pound with the people with no shirts in the freezing cold. I love when the scan the crowd.

Little did you know when you moved to Ohio :-)

Angie,
Sorry, I can't be of any HELP with your tastes, smells, etc. etc.

I almost went to bed without checking your week end report.

I really enjoy your writing.

It will be good for you to go home and visit. BUT PLEASE COME BACK!!

By the way we are all blaming Jason for the mens lunch table that is so noisy. Do you think he is to blame?????/

I am so excited that you are going home but miss you so bad that I'd love to hi-jack the plane so that we can hang out...I will try to be patient, January and your arrival are right around the corner.
The nose thing is a curse and it has stayed with me until this very day.
No Christmas sweater but have seen more than my share as well...with the matching obnoxious dangling earrings!
Miss you like crazy. Your package is on the way.
I'll call you in a bit!

Amanda had a super sniffer when she was pregnant. She always complained our town house smelled like old people. I could never smell the old people smell though. I think she might have been making it up.

I love snow, but I hate the cold. Staying inside during winter is the best!

I was discussing with my co-worker what else to get you for Christmas (yeah, it's a two-parter) and she mentioned I should stay away from the candles and B&BW stuff because smells she liked before she was pregnant really bothered her when she was.

I can't WAIT to see you guys. You need to a) bring settlers of cataan or b) let me know so I can buy it myself.
